Show Junior Legion Duo Return From All-Star Game Two members of the Cedar City Junior Legion baseball team returned re-turned Wednesday from participation partici-pation in the seventh annual All-Star Game held at Derks field in Salt Lake City Tuesday evening. Ray Endsley and Reed Hey-wood, Hey-wood, members of this year's squad, were selected to play on the "Staters' team against the Salt Lake "Valley" all-star team. The Valley all-stars won the contest 6 to 4 in an extra inning game. At the end of regulation play the score was tied at two-all. two-all. In the extra innings two hits coupled with four errors by the Staters allowed four runs for the Valley crew, enough to turn the tide to victory. In the bottom half of the inning the Staters bounced back with two runs with the last out coming with the bases loaded. Heywood played the entire game. For two innings he held down the second base position and moved into shortstop In the extra Inning. Endsley was on the mound for the Staters for three innings. Under the all-star rules pitchers can work only three Innings. In-nings. In his three Endsley struck out five of the Valley boys allowed a single hit and one run was scored. Sponsorship of the annual event is by the Utah Department nf the American Legion and the Ford Motor Company. Thor-ley. manager, furnished a car and all transportation for the two boys, one of the coaches of the State all-star team, Klien Rollo. and another participant, Frank Cooper of Pangultch. |
