Show Golf Organization Plans Take Shape For Nev Southern Utah Country Club Articles of incorporation of the Southern Utah Country Coun-try Club to be organized for the purpose of developing and operatlong a golf course in Cedar City were drawn up at a meeting Monday night and a second meeting to be held next Monday called for the purpose of electing officers of-ficers of the association. Under present plans it is expected that four holes of the nine-hole course may be planted this fall and ready for use early next spring while the remainder of the course is being developed next summer. However, no start will be made in the construction of the course until sufficient response is made on the part of people Interested In becoming members to assure the success of the undertaking. The Southern Utah Country Club will be a non-profit corpor. atlon organized for the purpose of developing as a golf course that area in the northeastern portion of Cedar City owned by th city, which hat been previously prev-iously designated for th purpose, pur-pose, and for th operation of such a course. - - The club will be governed by a board of nine trustees, to be elected next week, with three members of the board to be reelected re-elected each year. The members of the board of trustees will elect from the group a president presi-dent and vice president, and appoint ap-point a secretary, not necessarily a member of the board. The membership of the club shall be restricted to 200 members, mem-bers, but th number may be changed by resolution of the membership. To become a member mem-ber of said club, an Individual must b approved by th board of trustee or a committee desig nated by the board for this purpose. pur-pose. The membership fee will be $250.00 of which a minimum of $50.00 will be acceptable for each application for membership, which shall be returned to the applicant in the event of his rejection. re-jection. If approved the applicant will be required to complete the payment of the remaining $200 within one year of the date of filing of his application. Use of the course will be available to non-members by, the payment pay-ment of greens fees. Special Provision Members who may move from Cedar City are protected in as much as a provision Is made that membership may be sold upon approval of the board of trustees. Applications for membership are now being accepted, and a large number have already been filed. As toon as 160 applications applica-tions are received elected officers offi-cers of the organization will proceed pro-ceed with th development of th course. At the meeting to be held in the ballroom of El Escalante Hotel at 8 p. m. Monday, Aug. 20, the board of trustees, will be elected by vote of the membership mem-bership as of that time. The sponsoring committee is anxious to have as many Interested individuals in-dividuals as possible file their applications before that time In order that they may participate In the selection of officers. As soon as the organization Is completed and the club Incorporated, Incor-porated, a lease with the City for the land will be drawn. Tentative Ten-tative arrangements for such a lease have already been completed. com-pleted. The sponsoring committee is highly pleased with the Interest Inter-est shown in the development of a golf course, and feel certain that Interest will continue and that the goal of membership can soon be reached and actual construction con-struction work on tht course be started. , |
