Show Rams Shovf Well During Las Vegas Trip The Parowan High School basketball bas-ketball team traveled to the Las Vegas, Nev. area last week end, and while dropping both of its contests there, turned in very good performances, especially in its game with the big Basic High School from Henderson. Final scores of the two games were Basic 57, Parowan 54, and Gorman, Gor-man, 37, Parowan 29. The latter Is a Catholic High school in Las Vegas. Coach John Wood's Rams turned turn-ed in their best game of the season sea-son so far, in the game at Henderson, Hen-derson, with eleven squad members mem-bers getting into the game and all getting into the scoring column. col-umn. It was also the highest team score for the season thus far. Ken Bettridge led the scoring scor-ing for the Rams in 17 points. Parowan dropped behind 15 to 12, and that three-point difference differ-ence also showed up at the end of the game. The Rams were behind be-hind 30 to 22 to halftime, and 44 to 35 at the third quarter rest. In the final quarter they erased six of this nine point deficit to fin-insh fin-insh behind 57 to 54 Both teams hit quite evenly from the field, Basic having the edge 18 to 16 and the foul shots were fairly even, Parowan getting get-ting 22 for C7 and Basic 21 for 35. In the low scoring game with the Gorman team, Bettridge again led the scoring with 10 points, or one more than one-third one-third of the team total. Other squad members getting into the scoring column were Cliff Mortensen Mor-tensen with 4, Doug Uogerson, 4, Lamoreaux, 4, and Graff, 5. The box score wasn't complete in the score book, but quarter scores showed Parowan getting off to 9 to 5 lead in the first period. Gorman hit 13 points in the second quarter to 2 for the Rams to take an 18 to 11 lead at halftime. The third period showed show-ed the Rams hitting for 10 while Gorman got only 5 to cut the Gorman ead to 23 to 21, but the Las Vegas team drew away in the final period to win 37 to 29. On Thurs- Lincoln High School of Panaca, Nev. at Parowan, the Cedar Red-men Red-men come to Parowan Friday night and on Monday night, December De-cember 26, the Rams go to Cedar Ce-dar for a game with the Red-men Red-men in the CSU field house. |
