Show City Receives Bids Again on Foundation Job Bids will be received by the Cedar City administration Frl-1 day, Dec. 23, and opened at a special meeting of the city coun- j cil at noon Friday, to install al reinforced concrete ' foundation i for a T-Hangar to be erected at the Cedar City Municipal Airport, i The new call for bids on the installation of the foundation presents an unusual situation that will probably cast the city ap proximately $3,000 of unexpected expenditure, because a foundation founda-tion has alic-ady been installe; at the airport but for some un accountable reason is located in correctly at the airport. As a result, re-sult, a new contract must be let for another foundation at the proper location. Accepted One Bid On Nov. 14 the City Council accepted the bid of Utah System Builders for the construction of a five unit hangar at $14,60-1. Contract was signed and work started on the project Ralph B. Piatt, employed by the city as an engineer, laid out the building and the contractors began wtrk. The building was located near the south end of the runway, a considerable distance from the administration building and other oth-er facilities. Apparently no one of the city administration checked check-ed on the location or approved , it, which it is assumed would' be the logical responsibility of the city manager. I Objections Heard I It is understood that obpections to the location were voiced by users of the airport and prospective prospect-ive users of the new hangar, and after city officials conferred with the State Aeronautics director, it was decided to abandon the present pres-ent location, and relocate the Hangar close to the adminlstra-l tion building and other facilities. Since the contracting company began work on the location that had been surveyed fof the hang-, ar, it could not be held responsible, respon-sible, making it necessary for the city to award a new contract con-tract for the foundation at the new location. |
