Show 1960 Mourning Dove Hunt Dates Revealed The annual mourning dove season for I960 will begin Sept 1 in all Utah counties, but will vary by county from seven to 25 days In length. The season, along with rules and regulations governing this hunt, was recently set by the Utah Fish and Game Commission Commis-sion following the department of fish and game recommendations which showed bird numbers in i all areas of the state were comparable com-parable to those of a year ago. Opening date for the hunt, Sept 1, is the earliest late when a dove season may start in Utah under federal regulations and terms of the International Mi-1 gTatory Bird Treaty. The depart-, ment noted that the mourning dove is an early migrating bird, I often moving southward with the ! first cool night of late August or early September. A seven day season was set for Sept 1-7 in Daggett Duchesne, Morgan, Rich, Summit and Uintah Uin-tah counties where the doves are known to move from these higher high-er election north-state areas earlier ear-lier than In other parts of the state. An 11-day season was set for Box Elder, Cache, Carbon, Davis, Emery, Garfield, Grand, Piute, Salt Lake, Sanpete, Sevier, Utah, Wasatch, Wayne and Weber counties. In Juab, Millard and Tooele counties the season will continue contin-ue for IS days, Sept. 1 to 18. Twenty-five days of hunting were set for Beaver, Iron, Kane and Washington counties where the birds are often found later in the year as they migrate southward. Legal shooting hours for the mourning dove hunt will be one half hour before sunrise to sunset sun-set each day of the season. Dag limit will be ten birds, with a possession limit of 20 birds allowed after two days of hunting. |
