Show Parowan Council Considers Varied Agenda I The Parowan City Council at its meeting on Tuesday evening .issued a call for applications tor appointment as Parowan City 'Treasurer. Aird G. Merkley, who has served In that capacity for the past year or two, resigned recently to take employment in Salt Lake City, and vacated the office a week ago. Mrs- Pearl Russell has been acting as city treasurer since Merkley left and will remain In -that .position until un-til a permanent apointment is made, states Mayor Howard Jo-Iseph. I Mr. Joseph states that applications applica-tions will be received at the city office for the Job which Is a one-half one-half day Job for five days each I week and pays a salary of $123 ter month. A program of this sort will be worked out so that the pool construction can get under way. Council discussed some street impro"ments, especially to the street leading out of town across the top of the south field and connecting with Highway 91 near the Albert Benson property. This street is used by many mine employes em-ployes who reside on the west side of town. 1 Mr. Tklwell, new owner of the Bel Aire Motel on 'the south approach ap-proach to the city, met with the council to ask that a city owned piece of land across Highway 91 from his motel be leveled so it can be used for a truck stop. Mr. Tidwell is planning to open a cafe in the building west of the motel In the near future and made this request to give him additional parking area for the business. - - ' Mayor Joseph ' stated that a large list of delinquent light and water users was presented to the 'council, and the usual instruction was given that the list be turned over to the city electrician with orders to discontinue service to those residents until the bills are 'paid. I Mayor Joseph stated that the Information booth located - on Main Street, was moved back on- to the city park property on order or-der of the State Road commission iwhich has Jurisdiction over the area between the curb and gutter and property line on the street. |
