Show Paragonah Matron Honored by Posterity On Birthday Occasion PARAGONAH Mrs. Elizabeth Maxwell was honored at a family fam-ily party on Sunday, Aug. 7, at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Wilson Lund. Seventy-six family members and friends enjoyed a buffet supper sup-per honoring Mrs. Maxwell on her 89th birthday. Mr. and Mrs. Murl H. (Vera) Gibson and families and Mr. and Mrs. Milford Hollowood (Clare) of Cedar City; Mr. and Mrs. Ralph L. (La Von) McGook-in McGook-in and son Jon of Long Beach, Calif.; Lt. Col. and Mrs. F. C. (Lucille) (Lu-cille) Smolenskl and family of Fort George Meade, Maryland, and the Wilson Lunds of Paragonah. Para-gonah. Mrs. Maxwell was born Aug. 7, 1871 at Glendale, Utah. She was the first child of a family of 13, born to Swen Magnus and Elizabeth Eliza-beth Carpenter Anderson, and the second child born In Glendale. Glen-dale. On Jan. 5, 1892 she married James Bailey Maxwell at Glendale Glen-dale and ten children were born to them. Her descendants now number 96, including 37 grandchildren grand-children and 49 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Maxwell lived In Glendale for 39 years; then for the next 26 years the family resided In Ka-nab, Ka-nab, Junction and Cedar City. In the spring of 1935 they moved back to Glendale where she and her husband began their 50 years of married life. On Jan. 5, 1912 they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. anniver-sary. On April 13, of the same year Mr. Maxwell died. Mrs. Maxwell resided in her home in Glendale during the summer months until the fall of 1951. at which time she moved to Paragonah Par-agonah and where she has since resided with the Wilson Lund family. |
