Show Pinto Area of Dixie Forest Gets Land Treatment Ranger Frank Savage of the Enterprise Ranger District, Dixie Dix-ie National Forest, is completing the clearing of .200 acres of pinon Juniper land in the Pinto area. The work also includes chopping of residual trees from 300 acres of land cleared in 1957 and grass planting on the 200 acres of clear cut land. Selected areas will be hand seeded to bitterbrush to provide potential forage source for game. The project is being done under a cooperative livestock stocking program with the Pinto Cattle Allotment permittees and continues contin-ues a working agreement with the Utah Fish and Game Department Depart-ment for range rehabilitation of the Pinto area. The Dixie National Forest has developed continuing plans for providing progressive development develop-ment of lands under trte multiple use provisions of Public Law 86-517, 86-517, The Multiple Use Sustained Yield Act of June 12, 19G0. The many acres of pinonjun-iper pinonjun-iper stands on the Enterprise and St. George ranger districts of the Dixie National Forest become increasingly in-creasingly more important with ever increasing population and visitors needs of southern Utah. |
