Show County Educators Propose Two UEfl Candidates Utah Education Association annual convention will begin! Thursday, Oct. 4 in Salt Lake! Max Freedman, Washington Washing-ton correspondent for the "Manchester "Man-chester Guardian," a London newspaper, will be the speaker, t Mr. Freedman is one of seven outstanding speakers who will address the convention. In addition to the general sessions ses-sions and section meetings, UEA members will meet in 51 separate separ-ate meetings which are planned by independent groups who af-filate af-filate with UE during the annual an-nual convention. Many prominent local persons as well as 13 out-of-state authorities author-ities in various fields will address ad-dress these meetings. Iron County School District teachers and administrators left Wednesday afternoon for Salt Lake City to be in attendance at the opening sessions Thursday morning. Iron County Education Associ-tion, Associ-tion, who named Mr. Morris as a candidate for the board of trustees, trus-tees, have planned an active campaign for his election at the convention. Mr. Morris is a grad- uate of College of Southern Utah and has just completed requirement's require-ment's for a master's degree at Utah State University. He has served as a sixth grade Instructor in Cedar City, as principal prin-cipal of the Parowan Elementary in the district system before taking tak-ing over his present position as principal of the South Elementary. Elemen-tary. He is a past president of the Iron County Education Association Asso-ciation and has held many other positions in this educational group. At the present time he is chairman of the UEA Resolutions and Platform Committee ami he formerly held position with the state organization in public relations re-lations and as a member of the UEA Leadership School planning committee for two years. Mr. Johnson is also a graduate of CSU and at the present time is studying on his master's degree de-gree in science at USU. He has been at the East Elementary for the past four years. At the present pre-sent time he is representative from the ICEA serving on the UEA Classroom Teachers Advisory Advis-ory Council. During the past yeat he has been UhA-NEA Local Projects Recognition Chairman for the state of Utah. |
