Show Bird and Beast Hunting Conditions Improved Utah s recent state-wide period of heavy storms has brightened the outlook for fall hunting seasons, sea-sons, according to the department depart-ment of fish and game. Spokesmen said this was especially es-pecially true for the waterfowl hunt which is set to open at noon, Oct. 14 this year. Water conditions on state and other marshlands have bettered considerably during the recent storm period, with the effect of the changed conditions at least pointing to fair hunting opportunity oppor-tunity when this season gets under un-der way. Elks hunters found the going tough over the past week end on several hunting units when snowfall snow-fall confined most vehicle travel trav-el to improved roads. With good hunting weather prevailing for the rest of these seasons the kill j is expected to pick up rapidly as j weather and tracking conditions lend to a better hunter success. The continuing chukar partridge part-ridge season has proved successful success-ful for many hunters according .to field reports from over the I state. The reports show that restored re-stored water holes and a new growth of the "greens" on which these birds feed has resulted in a movement of many coveys to new areas. Hunters were advised to check with local conservation officers regarding the better chu kar areas in any given locality. |
