Show j Auxiliary Delegate Reports on Convention Mrs. Lona Watson returned last Thursday from Colorado where she attended the American Ameri-can Legion and American Legion Auxiliary Convention held in Denver. Mrs. Watson represented Utah as an alternate delegate but acted as a delegate at the convention activities. On the agenda were talks by former vice president Richard Nixon who addressed the group with the theme "The Life of Mrs. Kruschev." Nixon f ffered a suggestion sug-gestion to the women of America, Amer-ica, that they might become a better example of patriotism to their country. Former President Harry S. Truman also spoke at the convention as did John Mor-ley, Mor-ley, newspaper reporter who Just returned from a tour covering world affairs. From the Colorado convention Mrs. Watson traveled to Boulder, Colo., where she joined members of the 1957 Pilgrimage for Peace to Europe group who were holding hold-ing a reunion. Mrs. Watson traveled trav-eled to Europe with this organization organ-ization in 1957. Convention for district seven, which includes all Utah communities com-munities South of Milford, met for their fall meeting In Cedar City Saturday. Elizabeth Perry was In charge of the District cenvention, assisted by Mrs. Hir-sci.i. Hir-sci.i. District President, Hurricane. Hurri-cane. State officers in attendance were Ruby Farnsworth, State Secretary; Helen Howard, Girls' State Chairman, and Lena Christensen. First Vice President, Utah Department. The convention took place at the American Legion Auxiliary Convention Home where over 100 ladies were in attendance to hear reports from the state officers and a report of the national convention from Mrs. Watson. |
