Show I Police Dept. Issues 1956 Arrests Report Tony Lambert, Cedar City chief of Police, announced this week a report of arrests within the city for the year 1956. The de-partment de-partment made a total of 376 arrests ar-rests during the 12-month period per-iod in addition to other calls and duties performed by the department. depart-ment. Chief Lambert Indicated that an appalling number of arrests were made In the age bracket from 13 years up to 25, Inclusive. Nearly one-half, or 179, were In this group. All other arrests con- stltuted only 197 for the entire age group from 26 years and over. Another Interesting (actor brought out by the report Is that . of the younger than 25 years age bracket, 15 year olds led all ' others In total arrests followed 1 by 16 and 17 year olds. A total of 28 arrests of 15 yeai old boys was made; 27 for 16 year olds and 25 for 17 year olds. Next In line were 23 year olds with 15 arrests. Arrests ana investigation xor sleepers were highest on the list with a total of 103. A total of 41 of these arrests were in the above 25 year age bracket. Next in line was drurken changes with a total of 9 followed by direct di-rect Investigation of crimes to-alinir to-alinir 7 and drunk driving with a total of 25. It was also pointed out that the 76 arrests did not Include traffic violations. During the year a total of $12,-75.80 $12,-75.80 was reported In stolen property prop-erty ana the department during the year recovered a total of $32-120.00. $32-120.00. Ofienses against the Dyer Act, transporting .stolen vehicles over state lines, was led by the 14. 15 and 16 year old group. In each of theie ages three were recovered recover-ed for a total of nine In the three groups. The grand total, including in-cluding all age groups for the year, was only 12, and two of the remaining three were charged against 13 year old boys. Thirteen Thir-teen run-away Juveniles were picked up during the year by city police. |
