Show ELKS SOCIAL TO OPEN BAND UNIFORM DRIVE A host of activities have already been slated by the Elks Lodge for the purpose of raising funds for Junior High School band uniforms, according to Blaine Wood, chairman. The kick-off event will be a Dance at the Elks Lodge for members Saturday evening with all proceeds to be donated to the fund. Members of the BPOE have been invited to attend the event which will feature, in addition to dancing, an outstanding out-standing floor show. Tickets are $1.50 per couple. The dance Is under the direction of Bryant Petty, Elks entertainment chairman. Another event this month will be a fight card under the direction of Larry Leonard!. On April 12 a Variety Show by Clive Hartman will be produced that promises to be an outstanding event. Hartman has been working on the show for a number of weeks and it should be in tip-top shape for the April 12 presentation. On April 20 a Square Dance Jamboree will be sponsored by the Elks under the direction of Vurge Smith which also promises to be an outstanding event with some top callers from throughout the state to be here for the event. A public dance under the direction of J. V. Adams, will be held on April 27 at which time a door prize will be awarded award-ed a 1957 21-inch Motorola Television set with a retil value of $279. 1 Tickets will be on sale for the dance by Elks Lodge members mem-bers beginning next week and will also be on sale by band students. A prize will be offered by the committee to the band student selling the most tickets, It is understood. Other events have been planned with details to be announced an-nounced at a later date. |
