Show Swimming Pool Fund Boosted By Parowan Booster The Parowan Municipal Swimming Swim-ming Pool fund received a substantial sub-stantial boost during the past week, almost entirely through the efforts of George Loosley and 'his family, according to Worth L. Orton, president of the Parowan Chamber of Commerce and the swimming pool committee. Mr. Loosley conducted a drive for funds by giving away a registered reg-istered Shetland pony, for which he paid $250, in northern Utah. He canvassed the entire area In which he is sales agent for the Beeline Oil distributing compjt.y and after being reimbursed for the cost of the pony, he turned over a total of $288 to the pool committee last Friday night following fol-lowing the drawing for the pony at the Parowan-Enicprtee basketball bas-ketball game. Mr. Looseley, who conducted the drive with minor assistance I from some chamber officers, asks I us to extend his thanks to the following Cedar City business concerns who made major contributions con-tributions to the campaign: I Bradshaw Chevrolet Co., Thor-ley-Ford, Lunt Motor Co., Fair Deal Motor Co. Tri-State Motors and Lin's A G. Food Store. He also extends his thanks to Radio Station KSUB for advertising assistance as-sistance during the campaign. At the drawing for the Shetland Shet-land pony last Friday eveningl the winner was M. E. Thacker, local bee owner, who resides at the Watson Adams farm In Parowan Paro-wan valley. Mr. Orton states that the work on the pool and equipment is almost al-most half completed and that there is approximately $$1500 In the fund to continue the work when spring opens up. The contract con-tract for the work on the pool was awarded in two phases and the first phase expires on April 30. The committee is In hopes that enough money can be arranged ar-ranged for before that time to bring the pool to the stage where the contract can be renewed and the pool completed to where It ran be used this coming summer. |
