Show Native of Paragonah Honored on Birthday I By Mora Lund Sunday marked the 85th birthday of Mary Robb Prothero, lifelong resident of Paragonah. She Is the daughter of the late Thomas Robb and Alice Tattersal Robb and was born here July 14, 1882. She has the distinction of being the oldest woman in town who was born here. Mrs. Mary, Reese, a native of Beaver County, at the age of 93 holds top honors. hon-ors. Mrs. Prothero spent a total of 35 summers on the ranch in Horse Valley operating a dairy. Often she assisted in milking from 25 to 35 cows night and morning. She was an expert at making cheese and butter. In her earlier years she was an active worker in the MIA and Primary organizations. She has been especially es-pecially apt at quilt making and crocheting as well as other hand work. On April 29, 1908 she became the wife of John Prothero of Paragonah. Par-agonah. To this union was born two daughters, Roka (Mrs. Earl Thornton) and Alice, Mrs. John Mathews. Mr. Prothero died in 1939. Mrs. Prothero has been in poor health for some eight years and is being cared for by Mr. and Mrs. Earl Thornton and family. fam-ily. Many relatives and friends called Sunday to wish Mrs. Prothero Pro-thero a happy birthday. Mrs. Thornton served dainty refreshments refresh-ments for the occasion. |
