Show Time for Action The Wood's Ranch area in Cedar Canyon offers great possibilities for a camp ground and recreational area in the heart of the mountains and yet only a very short distance dis-tance from Cedar City and other towns of the county. There is a very definite need for such a facility in the Cedar Canyon area. The land has been acquired by the county, plans for development have been prepared by the Forest Service, and people of the area are anxiously awaiting the development develop-ment of the park so that it may be used for outings of all types, from the small family group seckinf respite from valley heat, to groups and organizations seeking a suitable suit-able place close to the city fo. summer parties and outings. out-ings. We feel certain that many local groups would actively .assist in the development of the recieation area if the op-' op-' portunity is provided. There is no doubt but that the use of such a park will be tremendous as soon as the facilities are provided. The land was purchased by the county two years ago; plans for its development were completed recently. Certain Cer-tain phases of the development, such as piping the water to the area, building of roads, grading and leveling, must be done by the county, but many of the other developments develop-ments could and would be undertaken by community groups interested in providing such a facility. The years roll by and unless some action is taken to start the development of the project, use of such an ideal mountain camp will be denied the people of the county m spite of the fact that the land has been purchased for that purpose. If the people want the area developed and want action ac-tion started soon they should express their desires to the county commissioners and support them in the project. This could be one of the finest recreational facilities to be found anywhere in the county, but dreaming about it will not make it a reality. Concerted action without further delay de-lay is what is needed. |
