Payments Arranged for Women Women may now get social security se-curity payments three years earlier ear-lier than would have been possible pos-sible under the old Social Security Se-curity Law. f Beginning with November 1956. a working woman may become entitled to social security payments pay-ments after she reaches age 62 instead of having to wait until she reaches 65. However, if she chooses to take the payments before she reaches 65, the amount of the monthly benefit she receives will be permanently reduced. The amount of the reduction re-duction depends on the number of months before she reaches 65 that she starts getting benefits. The wife of a man who is getting get-ting social security retirement payments may become entitled to a wife's insurance benefit after reaching age 62. If she chooses to take the payments before age 65 the amount of the monthly benefits received as a wife will be permanently reduced. reduc-ed. If her husband dies she may become entitled to social security payments as a widow at 62. The benefits for woman filing as a widow on her deceased hu" band's account are not reduced. Mothers of insured workers who die leaving no widow, widower, wid-ower, or child who could get monthly social security payments, pay-ments, and whose son or daughter daugh-ter was furnishing at least half of her support, may be entitled to payments at 62. These benefits bene-fits will not be reduced. The first checks to women who qualify under the new provir ions will be for the month of November 1956. Any woman who meets the above qualifications and wishes to file an application applica-tion for benefits or would like more information should contact con-tact a reoresentatlve of the Soe ial Security Administration who will be at the Utah State Employment Em-ployment Service in Cedar City on Tuesday, Sept. 4 from 9 a. m. until 3 p. m. |
