Show Kiwanis Confab Opens in Cedar Saturday Registration for the 1956 Kiwanis Ki-wanis convention of the Utah-Idaho Utah-Idaho District, to be held In Cedar Ce-dar City Sept. 1 . 3, has already passed the 400 mark and all indications in-dications are that the total number num-ber will pass 450, according to Robert Heyborne, chairman of registration and housing. Delegates from 58 clubs In the district, representing a total membership of more than 3200 business and professional leaders, lead-ers, are included in the registration. registra-tion. Committee conferences, a discussion of plans for the coming com-ing year, and the election of officers offi-cers will highlight the program. In addition to the outstanding meetings and speakers, a highly entertaining program will be held which will include a concert con-cert by the Master Singers of Cedar Ce-dar City, the Tradesmen Quartet of Cedar City and the "West-ernners,' "West-ernners,' a male quartet from Las Vegas, Nev., plus many other oth-er outstanding numbers. The presiding officer at the three-day session will be Dr. H. W. Marrs, governor of the Utah-Idaho Utah-Idaho District, of Vernal, Utah. International Officers Distinguished guests at the , convention will include two Kiwanis Ki-wanis International officers. Representing Rep-resenting International officially ' will be H. Boudreau of the Air Force Academy In Colorado, Colo-rado, who will discuss "Your New Air Force Academy," Wayne Guthrie Gu-thrie of Indianapolis, Ind., whose talk will be entitled "Accentuate "Accentu-ate the Positive"; Judge Philip B. Gilliam of Denver, Colo., discussing dis-cussing "What's Wrong with People," Peo-ple," and Bishop Richard S. Watson Wat-son of Salt Lake City Episcopal Ciiuicli, talking to the subject, "Past or Future." Registration will begin Saturday Satur-day at Hotel El Escalante. Convention Con-vention headquarters will be at the Cedar Crest Lodge. Delegates and district officers are expected to begin arriving Fridy evening. Catering services will be done by the Utah Parks Company. Fun for tha Ladies An extensive program for the women in attendance has also been worked out with Kiwani-Anns Kiwani-Anns of Cedar City hosting the visiting ladies at a card party Saturday afternoon which will Include bridge, pinochle and canasta can-asta and a special breakfast Monday morning. Efforts are being be-ing made to make this an outstanding out-standing convention for the wo men conventioneers as well. Featured on the program Sat-urday Sat-urday evening will be a "Sheep-herder's "Sheep-herder's Banquet" at the College of Southern Utah stadium. Honored Hon-ored guest at this event will be International President Culp. In addition to staging the convention con-vention Cedar City will be working work-ing for a change in the bylaws which would divide the current division No. 1 of the district which includes all clubs south of Provo In Utah. This area has been served In the LUil Uj a -single Lieutenant Governor. It is the hope of the Cedar City club that a division can be made reducing re-ducing the southern-most portion. por-tion.
