Show Finalists Selected for County Queen Seven finalists have been se-. lected from Iron County commun-1 ities to vie for the coveted title of "Miss Iron County." The con- test will be held Friday evening' at the College of Southern Utahi a 9 o'clock in connection with' the Coronation Ball. j Finalists for the Miss Iron County contest have been select-1 ed from each community and each of the community queens will vie for the county title. Win-ner Win-ner of the Miss Iron County title ti-tle will reign over the Iron County Coun-ty Fair activities at Parowan Saturday, Sat-urday, Sept. 1 through Sept. 3 and In addition will be awarded award-ed a $100 scholarship from the County Commissioners, plus an expense-paid trip to the Miss Utah contest held in connection! with the Utah State Fair. I Miss Cedar City was selected Monday evening in a contest be-twen be-twen five lovelies of the community com-munity with Miss Jackie Winter-rose, Winter-rose, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Winterrose, being declared winner. She will represent Cedar City at the Miss Iron County contest con-test Others vying for Miss Cedar Ce-dar City included Marva Carter, sponsored by the Lions Club; Pat-sy Pat-sy Bonzo, Elks; Laura Lee Crosby, Cros-by, Sixth Ward, and Diane Cooley, Coo-ley, Kiwanis. Miss Winterrose was sponsored by the Rotary Club. Other queens vying for the title ti-tle are as follows: Beverly Barlocker, Miss Escal-ante Escal-ante Valley, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Barlocker. Marie Adams, Miss Parowan, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ray H. Adams. Barbara Grimshaw, Miss Enoch, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. Hunter Grimshaw. Rose Ann Barton, Miss Parage nah, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Barton. , Vera Jean Adams, Miss Kan-, Kan-, arraville, daughter of Mr. and , Mrs Robert Adams. 1 Mary Jane Dalley, Miss Sum-1 Sum-1 mlt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ivor Dalley. Miss Iron County will be selected se-lected on the basis of beauty, poise, personality and talent. For the program each of the young ladies will give a talent tal-ent number and this portion of the program promises to be outstanding out-standing and will include a diversified di-versified array of talents. Miss Cedar City will give a ballet number and Miss Kanarraville Kanar-raville and Miss Paragonah will give piano solos; Miss Parowan will give a saxophone solo; Miss Escalante Valley will render a vocal selection; Miss Summit, a reading and Miss Enoch will give a musical reading. The program will begin at 9 p. m. and following the contest dancing will be held to the music mu-sic of the Starlighters orchestra. It was pointed out by the committee com-mittee in charge that a 50 cent admission ticket will admit a person to the program and dance. The public is cordially invited to attend. |
