Show Young People of Iron County Invited To Register Saturday for Summer 4-H Activities Youths 10 to 19 years of age, interested in participating in any phase of 4-H Club activity are invited to register for summer fun Saturday, March 27. Registration will be conducted throughout the day at the Iron County Extension Service offices located on the second floor of the Post Office Building. All youths In the county are invited to participate. However, additional addi-tional registration dates will be conducted at Parowan and In the Escalante Valley during the coming com-ing week it was announced. Several new projects for young ladies have been planned for this year. Among them is a project in knitting. Other projects for the girls will again be offered in home economics, home improvements, im-provements, clothing and foods. For the young men a new pro Ject In civil defense and some new areas in the agricultural field are also being listed this year. In addition to the regular club activities, several county wide activities are offered during the course of the year. Highlight of these activities is the annual 4-H Club encampment which will be held this year at Duck Creek Campground the last week of July. A day for older 4-H club members, 14 years and over, will be held this year as well. Last year over 550 boy and girls participated in 4-H Club activities in Iron County. A total of 90 clubs were formulated and active during the year, according to Geraldine Noakes, home agent with the extension service. Results of projects In 4-H club work are usually entered into competition at the Iron County Fair each year and winners are then entered in Utah State Fair competition each fall. |
