Show , Reduction in Long Distance Rates Become Effective Through Area in Near Future On April 1 long distance telephone tele-phone rates will drop for the second time In two months, Pearce Shelton, Mountain States Telephone Company manager hi Cedar City, announced today. The latest reductions will be in daytime station-to-station telephone tel-ephone rates on calls between States and will ho of primary benefit to business customers, Shelton said. Feb. 1, reductions in telephone rates on long distance calls made during evening hours and on Saturday Sat-urday and Sundays largely ben-?fited ben-?fited residence users. The low after 9 p. m. night rates, were made effective after H p. m. and all day on Sundays. Evening re-duced re-duced station iatcs which begin at 6 p. m. now apply all day Saturdays as well. With the April 1 rate changes, a daytime interstate station-to-station telephone call anywhere in the continental United States will cost $2 or less plus tax, for three minutes. The present maximum max-imum for such a call is $2.25. For example, a three minute station-to-station call from Ce-lar Ce-lar City to New York will cost SI. 90, a decrease of 20 cents. Rnie reductions ranging from 5 to 25 cents for tne initial three minute charge will apply to all daytime Interstate station-to-station calls over over 600 miles. Cuts also will be made In the charges for additional lime beyond be-yond the initial three minutes.
