Show Postal Dept. Completes Streamlining , The .largest reorganization pro- ( gram ever undertaken, not only, In government, but also in industry, indus-try, has been virtually complet-' ed by the Post Office Depart-1 ment, Postmaster Gilbert L. Jan-son Jan-son announced today. Mr. Janson said that Cedar' City postal patrons should be in- j terested In knowing that In car-rvlne car-rvlne out one of th basic rec ommendations of the Hoover Commission, Postmaster General' Arthur E. Summerfield has de-; centralized the management and operation of the Postal Service into 15 regional offices now established es-tablished throughout the nation. Regional director for the region which Includes the districts of Utah, Wyoming. Colorado, Arizo-1 na and New Mexico, is W. D. Brewer, long time postal official! and one of those active in admin-1 Isterlng portions of the postal re-1 organization program at its in- j ception. The regional office is lo-1 cated In Denver, Colo. George W. 1 Staples, well known former Rich-1 field radio executive, is assistant to the regional director with special spe-cial responsiility In public rela-1 tions'. Heading the administration of i postaj affairs in the Utah district is District Operations Manager' George E. McDonald, who has of-1 fices In the post office building In Salt Lake City. Asked Just what the postal re organization will mean to the Ce-day Ce-day City post office, Mr. Janson said the benefits will be substantial substan-tial and far-reaching. It means that Mr. Janson can get quick help from a management official in Salt Lake City on day-to-day operational problems and technical tech-nical Interpretations which for merly required communications with the bureau of operation in Washington. But most important, the postal reorganization has brought to the postal worker a fresh new feeling that he Is serving In a modern, up-to-date organization with advanced concepts of operation, oper-ation, managed on a business-like business-like basis, and furnishing a vital vi-tal service to the American people. |
