Show As I See It The Farm Bureau president. Shuman, thinks he sees a soil bank approval; now In my opinion opin-ion this is Just another run-around run-around for the average farmer ajd of no benefit for the livestock live-stock industry. The big farmer who Just farms for a hobby will probably get 50 of It and it will take the other 50'r to police it. I can't see for the Jife of me why the co-called shots can't come down to earth and face the facts, and call a spade a spade, Instead of shadow boxing. Everything in the so-called prosperity of the Elsenhower and Benson administration Is being supported except the farm and cattle Industry; yet the taxpayers taxpay-ers are paying for it. Even labor I has a support price on it; and I'm sure Mr. Shuman has too. I Mr. Shuman sent a letter to Mr. 'Eisenhower approving flexible, price supports. In my opinion he( is doing this on his own because. I don't think that the cattle men want a price support of any kind.' Nor do they want any interfer! ence or supervision. But we feel we are entitled to a floor unden our products as everything e.'sej has a floor, and the floor should-1 n't be flexible only as our econ-. omy goes up or down. j As I see It, the livestock people-should people-should be represented by men that make a business out of it, instead of having men represent us that are making a hobby out of livestock while making their money from some other business.' I see where Secretary Benson has finally pulled the mask off his face, and now we .Mvestock people and farmers know why we haven't had any help. You know, the Republican party got rid of Strlngfellow for less and now I ' think that we should get rid of ' Benson and his whole staff. Claronea Lamoreaux. |
