Show Local Representatives Support Child Dental Health Week During the week of February 5 to 11, all over the nation communities com-munities will be observing National Na-tional Children's Dental Health Week. Wherever you go you will find interest in dental health. What are the new developments' in treating tooth decay? What about tooth pastes and powders? Is fluoridation really effective? Local representatives of the American Dental Association pointed out that the slogan for this year's observance is "It's the Brushing that counts." A spokesman spokes-man said, "For one out of every two Americans, middle age and the need for artificial dentures arrive at about the same time." He continued, "But there Is no need for children growing up today to-day to face the same prospect." New methods, the association members say, of filling teeth and treating the gum diseases; new techniques for using antibiotics and outstanding advances In dental den-tal science such as fluoridation of water can all add up to a lifetime life-time of dental health for today's children. They listed a four point program pro-gram generally recognized to assist as-sist parents' In guiding their children chil-dren along the road to lifetime dental health as follows: 1. TOOTH BRUSHING immediately immedi-ately after eating, before the teeth are attacked by the enamel destroying acids, which result when carbohydrates ferment in the month. 2. PERIODIC DENTAL EXAMINATIONS, EXAM-INATIONS, beginning at the age of three. 3. PROPER DIET which In-eludes In-eludes cutting down on the amount of between meal sweets. 4. FLUORIDATION OF WATER SUPPLIES to prevent 60 to 65 per cent of dental decay. |
