Show I School Board Acts On Varied Items The Iron County School Board in meeting Monday made final arrangefents for the replacing of cement walks between the two buildings at the Cedar City High School. The cement walks in tills area, as the result of inadequate base packing has sunk and cracked badly, and the contractor agreed to replace all damaged sections. Arrangements have been made by the contractor to have a local firm replace the cement, and work will start as soon as school is out. Some time was spent at the meeting discussing landscaping plans for the high school grounds Grass is now being planted, and plans were formulated to remove and control all weeds from areas of the grounds, until the land-caping land-caping is completed. It was reported by Superintendent Superinten-dent Ianthus Wright, that teacher teach-er contracts for the 1965-66 year had been mailed and that practically prac-tically all of them had been signed sign-ed and returned. The resignation of Mrs. Barbara Adams, speech and hearing therapist, was accepted. Mrs. Adams has accepted a position with the College of Southern Utah. Bids for the sale by the district of a number of vehicles were op-en op-en and all rejected. Sale will now i be negotiated. June 7th was set as the date for a school budget hearing, and approval was given to seek quotations quot-ations on tax anticipation notes, and also for the preparation of a autdit of school funds. Discussions were held at the meeting on a proposed extended extend-ed summer program In the district, dis-trict, presented by Max Dalley; an expanded library program, presented by Claudia Forsyth, and also on future plans for the Parowan High School FFA farm. The latter program will continue as currently outlined until the opening of school in the fall, but a study of proposed changes will be conducted to determine future operation of the program. |
