Show Music Students Win Ratings For Performance The Cedar High School Music Department received acclaim on Saturday at Fillmore for its participation par-ticipation in the Region Eight Music Festival. Braving winter wind and snow, five bus loads of musicians arrived ar-rived in Fillmore at 9:00 a. m. and participated in choral, band, and orchestra competition with other schools in the region. All organizations representing represent-ing Cedar High School received First Place ratings, with the A Capella Choir, rated I superior, and the concert band honored by a standing ovation by students from other schools who were in attendance. Judges for the competition were Lyneer Smith, formerly director of choral music at the University Univer-sity of Arizona, and presently a member of the music faculty at Weber State College; Earl Erick-son, Erick-son, director of bands, Weber State College, and Mac Erlckson, director of bands, Snow Junior College. Typical of the judges comments were those of Mr. Smith, who said that he was impressed im-pressed with the maturity of sound, and the musical feeling with which the students performed. perform-ed.
