Show High School Students Named to Attend Freedom Academy Don K. Seegmiller, student at Cedar High School and Sam Lister Lis-ter of Parowan High School are among the 57 outstanding high school students of the state who will participate in the first Utah National Guard Freedom Academy Aca-demy class which will open Monday, Aug. 21 at Camp W. G. Williams. The two Iron County students, members of the all-male class, were announced this week by Ma. Gen. Maxwell E. Rich, Utah Adjutant General, one of the founders of the Academy. Each of the participants will be seniors sen-iors In their respective high schools this fall and were selected select-ed on the basis of nominations from the high school principals. Final selection was made by an acceptance committee of the Academy. Courses at the Academy will be focused on the communist threat to the freedoms that Americans and free world citizens citi-zens enjoy and often take for granted. Some 25 Utah National Guardsmen, experts in their fields, will Instruct the youths on communist and non-com-munits theories, how each works today, and what Americans can do to combat this constant Red threat. The course will run through August 25 at which time the students will be graduated and presented diplomas during a banquet at Camp Williams. In addition to the classroom work scvciai athletic and social activities have been planned by the Academy faculty. While at the Academy the boys will be issued literature on how Americans can help preserve pre-serve their valuable freedom and how they can derail the speeding Red express which has now reached the doorstep of this rvulntt-y Th?' .'.!!! b?
