Show Highway Safety Promoter To Address Clubs City Safety Council Sponsors Prominent Speaker j Through the auspices of the Cedar City Safety Council, of I the Cedar City Coordinating Council, a joint meeting of ail civic clubs in the community has been called for Monday noon, Aug. 1, at Hotel El Escalante. Purpose of the meeting is to present a featured guest of the community, Ab Jenkins, noted speed car driver and a backer of safety campaigns throughout the nation. Jenlkns will appear before the civic clubs on Monday and will be introduced by the safety council coun-cil chairman, A. O. Jensen. Jenkins Jen-kins has consented to appear at the meeting in connection with the locally sponsored safety campaign cam-paign built around the theme, "Slow Down and Live." Klckoff to the city campaign was Friday, prior to the Pioneer Day holiday, when the committee commit-tee placed stickers with the slogan slo-gan on menus in all of the cafes of the community to draw attention atten-tion to the motoring public. Monday's meeting will include the Lions, Kiwanls, and Rotary Clubs plus other groups who are Interested in attending but who don't have regular meeting times. The meeting is' open to the public pub-lic Jensen said. Ab Jenkins, hdder of a number of land speed records, is also prominent for his constant fight for highway safety. He is this summer working temporarily with the Utah Safety Council as field representative to appear before be-fore s'uch meetings as the Cedar City gathering. Ills wide experience, and his "know-how" with automobiles, should draw interest to the Cedar City motorists. It is just one of many planned promotions by the Cedar Safety committee whose plans call for a constant reminder remin-der to the "man behind the wheel," to be safety conscious, Jensen said. ' |
