Show AUGUST 4 THROUGH AUGUST 6 H Iron County 4-H Clubs Prepare For Annual Duck Creek Outing 4-H Clubs from Iron County are busy this week making mak-ing final preparations bringing record books up to date, preparing skits and checking camping equipment for the annual encampment to be held Aug. 4 through 6 at Duck Creek camp grounds. Camp personnel includes Wallace D. Sjoblom and Emma Em-ma Neilson of the county Extension Service office, and Stephen L. Brower, former Iron County agent, as a representative repre-sentative from the State Extension Service. A number of committees for the various aspects of the camp have been lined up to insure a successful en campment. Registration will be under the direction of Helen Hatch; chairman of the handicrafts, handi-crafts, which will be bracelets, is Marilyn Richardson. Barbara Bayles and La Reta Decker will be in charge of songs; Garth Jones will handle the Dag raising, and Delores Mortensen will be in charge of the first aid demonstration. Club Contests Contests for the 4-H Clubs this year will be as follows: Lumml stick decoration and competition; forestry, in the form of a quizz; clean camp, flag raising, log sawing, songs, skits and stimts, and club identification. A full agenda has been planned plan-ned for the youngsters, Miss Neilson said. On the opening day, Thursday, Aug. 4, reglstra- nn q r n nrpn.1T atlnn nf camD sites wlU occupy the morning with the first general assembly to be held at 2 p. m. for flag raising ceremonies, prayer and group singing. The election of officers to take charge of the camp will follow with the following candidates vying vy-ing for the respective offices: For mayor, La Reta Decker, Cora Lee Gibson and Dick Cox; for scribe, Anita Cox and Janene Bauer. Demonstrations Following the election camp-craft camp-craft and first aid demonstrations demonstra-tions wiU be given to complete the afternoon agenda. At 7:30 p. m. Aug. 5 Miss Bauer will conduct the first camp fire program which will include singing, songs and skits. On Friday flag raising ceremonies ceremo-nies will be held at 7 a. m. and the rest of the day will be divided di-vided among three divisions of activity including handicraft, forestry for-estry and recreation. All participants in the camp will be divided into color groups and they will interchange from one phase of the program to the other so that all three events will be operating simultaneously throughout the day. A campfire program Friday evening will be held with the final fi-nal skits and a candle lighting ceremony to complete the activities. activi-ties. Saturday, Aug. G, finnj day of the camp, the group will meet at 9:30 a. m. for a log sawing contest con-test and presentation of awards. Camp will break up at 12 noon and the young 4-H'crs will return to their homes. |
