Show State Supreme Court To Review PSC Pcwer Findings Cedar City Corporation appeaJ-ed appeaJ-ed to the Utah Supreme Court Tuesday against an increase in residential power rates in the city allowed by an order of the Public Service Commission several sever-al weeks ago. The Supreme Court has agreed to review the findings find-ings of the Public Service Commission Com-mission and gave the commission commis-sion until August 15 to file its record in the case. On May 27 the P S C ordered the Southern Utah Power Co. to Increase residential power rates by five per cent, and the city administration takes the stand that the commission exceeded ex-ceeded its jurisdiction in the order, or-der, in that the city had been given no opportunity for a hearing hear-ing on the matter. The Southern South-ern Utah Power Company had filed a rate increase schedule in which no increase for residential rates was included and city officials offi-cials maintain that because of this fact the city was not given an opportunity to present evidence evi-dence in opposition to such an Increase. Rate Schedule Filed The company was granted permission per-mission in January to increase rates sufficiently to increase revenues rev-enues by approximately $69,000. A rate schedule was' filed by the company proposing to collect the revenue from pump well, Indus-1 trial and resale users, without applying an Increase to residen-; residen-; tial rates. The commission then j ordered the five per cent residential residen-tial increase with reductions in the other proposed increases'. |
