Show Cedar High Redmen Drop League Game to Parowan Rams, 30 to 12 The Cedar high school football team was trimmed rather soundly sound-ly by the Parowan high school team In a game played on the R A. C. field Friday afternoon, but not without a tough battle between the traditional foes. Tar-owan Tar-owan won the game by a score of 30 to 12, and took over sole possession of first place in the division race, dropping the Red-men Red-men -to a second place tie with Beaver, the team Parowan had trimmed in the opening round of play. The Cedar-Beaver tie will be broken this week since the two teams tangle Friday afternoon in a game to be played on the Beaver field. The kickoff is scheduled sche-duled for 2 p. m. Playing a second sec-ond game in less than a week, Coach Glen Jackson's Redmen will entertain the Mllford Tigers In a return game on the B. A. C. field next Wednesday. If the weather is good the game will be played under the lights. In the game Friday Coach Waiters' Wai-ters' Parowan Rams jumped into a 12 to 0 lead in the first half, by pushing over touchdowns in each of the first two quarters. The third quarter was crammed cram-med with action, both teams pushing over two touchdowns in the period. Jack Goddard, brilliant bril-liant running, Cedar halfback, put the Cedar team back into the game with two sensational runs, both for approximately 75 yards. On each occasion the shifty speedster broke through the Parowan Par-owan line, and out distanced the Rams as he raced almost the entire en-tire length of the field. The runs were not only the outstanding feats of the game, but compare favorably with any seen in the six-man league in recent years. Clair "Tuffy" Robinson, main-stay main-stay of the Parowan team, also played an unusually fine game, doing most of the ball toting for Parowan and doing it well. He scored three of Parowan's five touchdowns and passed to Johnson John-son for a fourth. Ilalterman ran over the fifth touchdown for the Parowan team. The margin of victory was the result of better blocking given to Robinson by - his team mates than Goddard and the other Cedar backs re- t" v- ; i e v'w ' . - f -X, V'; V . y-H r. If . A number of the Redmen turned in good performances, as did members of the visiting team, but the Cedar squad did not function as smoothly as did the Rams. |
