Show A BIG STEP FORWARD To Coach Murray Maughan, the administrators of the Branch Agricultural College, and members of the fraternities frater-nities on the campus, must go a lot of credit for the vast improvement in conditions at the college stadium for the Cedar-Parowan high school football game Friday, over that of the first game between Cedar and Hurricane. Hurri-cane. In fact, for the improvement over conditions at all college games in previous seasons. The school leaders, recognizing the fact that the spectators spec-tators who purchase seats for football games want a clear view of the field, and are entitled to it, have ruled that no one will be allowed along the side lines of the playing field while a game is in progress. The new ruling was put into effect Friday for the first time, and the people peo-ple in the stands w ere very pleased indeed. In the past large numbers of children, students and even faculty members have gradually left the stands and stood on the sidelines of the playing field, obscuring the view of those who remained seated to an extent that boundary lines and much of the play could not be seen. In addition large crowds have been allowed to crowd up against the sidelines on the west side of the field, so that it has been impossible to see the line markers. Friday the field was kept entirely clear, and if the practice continues for future games, interest in the games, and support for the team will increase tremendously. tremen-dously. This is a big step forward and everyone should cooperate with the school officials in keeping up the good work. |
