Show Congressman Granger Praises Utah Press It is a real pleasure for me to Join with the newspaper readers read-ers of Utah in congratulating the newspaper editors of our state on their achievements during dur-ing the past 12 months. The observance of Newspaper Week affords all of us an opportunity op-portunity to reflect upon the tremendous tre-mendous social services performed, perform-ed, week in and week out, by the newspaper publishers of this state. Utah has been particularly for-, tunate in having as a group some of the most progressive and forward-looking editors in the nation. na-tion. No rightful cause lacks a champion and no wrong-doing long goes undiscovered, thanks to the press of Utah. The encroachment encroach-ment of monopoly, which has all but abolished free enterprise in some lines of endeavor, cannot overwhelm the newspaper industry, indus-try, and thus the country, as long as the press of Utah, joined. with the press of the nation, is characterized char-acterized by the strong individualism individ-ualism which it now displays. (Signed) WALTER K. GRANGER Member of Congress. |
