Show Polio Emergency Volunteers To Be Locally Trained Mrs. Alice Wood, the State representative repre-sentative of Public Health District Number 2, attended the Utah Women's Wo-men's ftdviscr conference of the National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis in Salt Lake City on Wednesday, Wed-nesday, March 10. District No. 2 is comprised of Iron, Beaver and Washington counties. At this meeting meet-ing Mrs. Dorothy Lohman, president of the State Nurse's Association, outlined the plans and procedures for training polio emergency volunteers vol-unteers in each district. These plans call for a training center to be set up in each district, after a careful survey has been made, and plans for recruiting students stu-dents has been decided upon, by the state representative, Mr. Frank Emery. Heretofore the training of P.E.V. has been conducted at Pine-, crest, but it is felt that better results re-sults will be obtained by locating a training center In each district. Dr. Kesler, the Salt Lake (Polio specialist, and a physiotherapist will be In attendance at these training centers for purposes of instruction and demonstration. A final accounting of the March of Dimes Campaign shows that Iron County went well over its goal of $3000. Throughout the county, $2107.73 was donated. The school children led the list of givers, giving giv-ing $43827. Special gifts amounted to $390; Business firms, $194; Coin collectors, $369.89;. Coin Cards, $244.92; Women's Organizations, $30.75; and dances in the county, $439.90. Again the Campaign committee and the Iron County Chapter wish to ttiank the citizens of Iron county and the school children for their fine support T.d cooperation. |
