Show RESOLUTION OF RESTECT In Honor of JOHN M. FOSTER WHEREAS in the wisdom of the Great Lawgiver and Father of Mankind, Man-kind, the summons has come calling from our midst Jchn M. Foster, a member of the Utah State Bar and of the Fifth District Dar Association, Associa-tion, and WHEREAS the passing of our friend and brother at the bar has brought sorrow to his loved one.; and a deep sense of loss to fc's friends and colleagues, now therefore there-fore be it RESOLVED that the members of the Fifth District Bar Association tender to the noble wife and honored hon-ored family of our friend and brother bro-ther our deep sympathy and our united hope that In the mercy of Divine Providence they will be com fTtd. John Moody Faster was born in St. George, Utah, November 5, 1880 a son cf Solon Foster and Sarah Margaret Moody, members of pioneer pion-eer families who took a prominent part In the settlement of southern Utah. He grew up in St. George and liad his early schooling there. Later Lat-er he attended the Branch Normal school at Cedar City and was a member of the second graduating class from that school. He then at tended Leland Stanford University and received the degree of bachelor of science. He became an instructor at Ricks college in Idaho and there, after for three years was a mcmbci of the faculty of the Branch Normal Nor-mal school at Cedar City. At the latter school he taught science courses cour-ses and was athletic coach. A fine athlete himself, he was a popular and successful coach and directed a, track team which won first place in the state tournament. In 1906 he married Hannah Davis and to this union were born three sons and a daughter, all of whom are honored and respected citizens. Having decided de-cided upon the law as a profession. Mr. Foster attended the law school of Hie University of Chicago, and was admitted to the bar of Utah in 1918. He commenced practice at Cedar City and for thirty years has been a member of the bar of this district. As a lawyer, John M. Foster has been respected for his courage and firm sense of Justice. He had neither neith-er sympathy nor tolerance for chicanery chi-canery or subterfuge. He despised deceit and honored his profession by his honesty and Integrity. He had deep sympathy for fellow men in distress and constantly rendered service for rieedy clients without remuneration. He was never known! to refuse an assignment to defend an Indigent person when request- ed by the Court, and when so appointed ap-pointed was noted for his diligence and devotion to the cause of his client. He served his city as city attorney and his county as county attorney, and will be remembered by officials with whom he served for his faithful attention to his public duties. He honored his oath as a lawyer and lived the life of an upright, loyal citizen. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this testimonial be transmitted to the wife of our departed de-parted brother, and that the District Dist-rict Court of the Fifth District be requested to record a copy upon the minutes of the court in each county of the district.
