Show T Fish and Game Commission Begins Scientific Study of Water Conditions A scientific, study of water condition! condi-tion! at Navajo Lake was started last week end by the Utah 8tate Tlsh and aame Commission, as a means of determining the cause of fish loss In the lake during the winter win-ter months. The study Is being made by M. J. Madscn, Superintendent of Xish culture for the State Commission, Commis-sion, who visited the lake over the reek end. Mr. Madscn, secompanledby local officials and sportsmen, made the trip to the lake In a "snowmobile". He was accompanied by Al Biedcr-man Biedcr-man official representative of the Cedar Wildlife Federation; Claude Macfarlane, Oame Warden; Reed Henderson, fiupwlntndent of the Panguitch Hatchery; Jack Scott and Ray Egerts, Wildlife Federation members, and Joe Hollomon of Cal. lfornia. A thorough Investigation of wat- cr condition, the oxygen content, etc, was made, together with measurements mea-surements of depth, thickness of Ice. etc. and further such ' surveys' will be made at various InUrvals In an effort to solve the perplexing problem. Mr. Madscn reported that water1 conditions at the lake were found to be bad for fish life, but expressed the opinion that a solution could be found If local sportsmen were willing will-ing to put forth conscientious efforts ef-forts In cooperation with the Fish and game department A detailed report of Mr. Madscn's findings will be made text week. |
