Show "Master Stockman" Awards Ready for 1 1 FS Show Leaders Members of the 4 H clubs and Future Farmers of America who win their way to the charmed circle of "purple ribbon" winners win-ners in the Intermountain Jr. Fat Stock show to be field at the Salt Lake Union Stockyards at ;North Salt Lake on June 7, 8 and 9. will be awarded the junior title ti-tle of "master stockman" and be given an insignia pin so designating them. Announcement of the new award by the Intermountain Junior Jun-ior classic was made by Merrill Parkin, show manager, as a part of the plan to switch the accent of the show to "Featuring Grand Champion Youth" instead of featuring fea-turing so-called champion animals, ani-mals, most of whom differ only slightly in quality. No "champion" "cham-pion" animals will be named this year. Instead, all prime animals ani-mals will be awarded purple ribbons, their owners "Master Stockman" insignia, and the order or-der of the sale of prime animals will be by lot, so one grower will not receive a lion's share of the auction and premium money by the tenuous designation of "champion". Buyers, who bid very high of a single animal and only market price on other prime animals, have promised to give all prime animals special consideration. The new insignia is circular with crossed canes (the symbol of auction ring) and surmounted by the letters IJFS. identifying the show, !nd the designation of "master stockman." |
