Show Awards Presented to High School Students in Special Assembly Friday Students at the Cedar City high school were presented with awards and scholarships at an awards assembly held in the school last Friday. These awards were made as a result of student activity during the past year. . Activity awards were presented to Barbara Green, Helen Mun-ford, Mun-ford, Gaylen Berry, Marilyn Kemple, Willard Gardner. Delias Imlay, Tommy Clark, Raymon Brown. Bud Bauer, Diane Tueller, Carol Wright and Luana Nelson. These are awarded to seniors who have accumulated sufficient points during their three years in the school. Branch Agricultural college activity ac-tivity awards were given to Tor-mas Tor-mas Esplin, Tommy Clark. Delias Imlay, David Endsley, Raymon Brown and Leon Schrandt. For scholastic achievement, the BAC scholarship was given to Donald Milne, with Colleen Leigh selected as alternate. The University Uni-versity of Utah scholarship was awarded to Donald Mosdell. Diane Di-ane Tueller was presented with the Utah State Agricultural college col-lege scholarship. A new scholarship this year was presented by the Junior Chamber of Commerce to Donald Knight, with Carol Wright as alternate. al-ternate. Unlor Pacific scholarships scholar-ships were presented to Luana Nelson and Clair Rogers. A nursing scholarship also was awarded to Beverly Heyborne. This was presented by the American Amer-ican Legion auxiliary. The Durham Morris Debate me-dais, me-dais, for excellence in debating through the year, were presented present-ed to David Endsley and Donald Knight. During the assembly, three trackmen, who represented the high school at the state track meet recently, were presented with medals which they won at the meet. They were Boyd Bladen, Bla-den, Jimmy Neilson and Raymon Brown. First prize In the American Legion Le-gion auxiliary oratorical contest was awarded to Raymon Brown, while first prize in the Americanism Ameri-canism Essay contest went to Patty Petty. Second prize winner was Geraldine Rollo and third prize went to Brent Palmer. In the Legion auxiliary Poppy Poster contest, Leslie Schrandt won first prize, Luana Nelson, second, and Brent Palmer, third. Special accuracy awards In typing were presented to Renee Jones, first year typing, and Suzanne Su-zanne Cardon and Helen Mun-ford, Mun-ford, second year typing. Awards were also presented to individual and team winners In the Branch Agricultural college Vocational Dav contests. Clara Mae drimshaw won first place in first year typing, while Renee Jones took third place In the same competition. A team consisting of Doris Baldwin, Clara Mae Grimshaw, and Renee Jones, took first place team honors in the first year typing. In second year typing, Helen Munford took third place in the individual competition. A team, composed of Suzanne Cardon, Murial Hirschl and Helen Munford, Mun-ford, took second place in this event. In shorthand I, Carol Christen- sen took first place In the Individual Indi-vidual contest, while a team made up of Suzanne Cardon, Carol Car-ol Chrlstensen and Janice Heywood, Hey-wood, took second place. |
