Show Dollar Donations Sought to Reach Quota for Cancer The 1950 Fund campaign of the American Cancer Society for Utah is still $3,000 short of reaching its quota of $50,000, A Pratt Kesler, state chairman has announced, and the public of Utah have been appealed to in order that the full budget requirements re-quirements can be met. No more personal solicitation will be made except in those communities still canvassing, according ac-cording to Mr. Kesler, but those who have had friends or relatives rela-tives stricken with the dread disease di-sease or have lost them to cancer, are asked to enclose a dollar bill in an envelope and address it merely: "Cancer, Salt Lake City, Utah". The American Cancer Society, in three years, has not raised its quota or extended its budget despite increased demands made by other health agencies, according accord-ing to Mr. Kesler. As a result, because of increased costs ' of services and supplies, every economy econ-omy had to be practiced to keep expenditures within the J50.00Q budget. Every dollar under the full quota means that some service ser-vice must be dropped. A dollar given now by persons who have relatives or friends stricken by the disease, or who have been lost to the nation's second greatest killer, may save some other person, according to Mr. Kesler, for Cancer, when detected de-tected early, can be cured in 75 per cent of the cases. Funds received in the mail campaign will be credited to the community communi-ty from which they originate. |
