Show Visiting Gymnasts To Present Vigorous Show Danish gymnasts will literally mop up the floor with one another an-other Monday night as they demonstrate dem-onstrate tricks of balance, suppleness sup-pleness and grace when they appear ap-pear in the Branch Agricultural college fieldhouse under the sponsorship of the Cedar City Ki-wanis Ki-wanis club. The touring troupe of 32 young Danish men and women put on their two-hour show in the field-house field-house beginning at 8:15 p. m. Tickets for the affair may now be obtained from any Kiwanian or at the Cedar City Drug. All proceeds from the show will be used by the Klwanis club toward the establishment of a children's playground in the northwestern section of the city. The young men and women, who are on their third tour of the United States, range1 in age from 18 to 30. They are all amateurs and were selected from Danish schools and clubs. They arrived in the United States last September Septem-ber to begin their tour. Their program consists of tumbling, resembling a new form of suicide; unusual calisthenics, ballet and tightrope walking techniques, and dancing. The dancing includes the young men throwing the women across the floor at one another and swing, ing them around like dolls at the end of strings. In the tumbling part of the program, the performers try to convince the spectators that they don't know their necks from their elbows. Using mats, bucks and wooden boxes, the young men throw themselves at and over bucks, walk on their hands in military drill, and generally show that bones were meant to be shaped into pretzels. A highly entertaining show is promised for those who attend this unusual performance. |
