Show Way Cleared For Start Of Cedar Housing Project The way was cleared for the start of a 78 unit housing project In Cedar City this week, when a presidential order declared Cedar City a war area and eligible for financing under the F H A. Gordon Weggeland, Utah F H A director, announced that the order had been Issued after receiving a message mes-sage Tuesday from Raymond T. Cahlll, assistant F H A commissioner commis-sioner at Washington, D. C. Approval of the 78 unit housing project had been given approval some time ago to provide housing for employees of the Ninth Service Command motor repair shops and Oolumbla Iron Mining Company at Cedar City, but the city was not declured a war area until Tuesday. Applications have already been filed for the construction of housing hous-ing units here, and should be accepted ac-cepted In the near future to assure the start of the project to relieve a serious housing shortage. At leat one project, the construction of fifteen homes on Seventh West by the Cedar Lumber and Hardware Hard-ware Company, seems certain to start soon. Two other projects, one for the construction of a thirty unit apartment apart-ment house and another for the construction of 36 housing units, -are being formulated and will undoubtedly un-doubtedly be rushed now that the war area order has been Issued. |
