Show New Teachers Added to Branch College Faculty To augment the English, Math, and Geography staff at the Branch Agricultural College, three new teachers have been added. J. H. Plummer of Rexburg, Idaho has been added to the English faculty. J. R. Tlppetts, former superintendent superinten-dent of Morgan County Schools, has teen named to teach Geography, Geo-graphy, and Hughes B. Hanchett. Chemist and Assayer for the A-merican A-merican Smelting and Refining Company until he accepted his present position at the B. A. C. has been named to teach Chemistry Chemis-try and Mathematics. The addition of these teachers was made necessary by the expanded ex-panded academic program to meet the Pre-Fllght students needs according ac-cording to Director Henry Ober-hansley, Ober-hansley, who made the announcements announce-ments of these appointments today. to-day. Mr. Plummer is a graduate of the University of Utah, where he ma.iored in English and Speech. Mr. Pummer will teach the same subjects to the Pre-Fllght students at the B. A. C. He taught two years at Ricks College In Idaho, followed by three years as an employee em-ployee of the First Security Bank of Idaho. Mr. Plummer's wife and Infant daughter will Join him in Cedar City soon. Continuing his distinguished career ca-reer as an educator, Mr. Tlppetts will teach geography to the Pre-Fllght Pre-Fllght ftudtits. For the past fourteen four-teen years Mr. Tlppetts has been superintendent of Morgan County Schools. The last four years of which he has also served as principle prin-ciple of Morgan County High School. He graduated from the U-tah U-tah State Agricultural College In 1920. He obtained his M A. Degree from Stanford In 1930. Not only has Mr. Tlppetts been an active member of the teaching profession for many years but he has given outstanding service to hh community com-munity in many church and civic positions. Mr. Tlppetts family will remain in Morgan. Mr. Hanchett, who at the present pres-ent time Is teaching mathematics to the Pre-Fllght students is a former student of B. A. C. and a graduate of the Brlgham Young U-nlverslty, U-nlverslty, where he majored in chemistry and mlnored in mathematics. mathe-matics. Following his graduation he did graduate work at the B. Y. U. and at the Utah State Agricultural Agricul-tural College. He won his letter two years in football and four years In track He taught at Marys-vale Marys-vale High School for two years preceding his work as Industrial chemist for the American Smelting Smelt-ing and Refining Company. Mr. Hanchett was married Iri 1940 to Marian Stumm of Salt Lake City who Is a graduate of the University Univer-sity of Utah. They have two children. |
