Show Road, Tax Matters Occupy Time of Commissioners Several tax matters pertaining to land sales, leases and settlement of contract purchase prices were considered con-sidered by the Iron County Commissioners Com-missioners at their regular April meeting. In addition, a number of groups and representatives of organizations or-ganizations met with the Commissioners Commis-sioners on road matters. Among the road projects discussed discuss-ed were improvements in Summit, on the Parowan Canyon, Little Creek Peak and Summit Canyon roads, and two roads in the Parowan fields. In response to a petition signed by the residents of Summit and presented the Commissioners by Charles R. Dalley and John H. Dal-ley, Dal-ley, the Board agreed to set up a WPA project and have a crossing placed over the ditch In front of the Charles R. Dalley property on Summit's main street A committee representing the Parowan Exchange Club, and composed com-posed of L. J. Adams, Marlow Top-ham Top-ham and Ivan Decker, met with the Commissioners and requested that more work be done on the Parowan Canyon, Little Creek Peak and the Summit Canyon roads during the coming summer. It was pointed out by the committeemen that these roads were valuable to the county from the standpoint of scenic attractions at-tractions as well as being very useful use-ful to the general public Such a project had already been listed and sent to the Utah State Road Commission Com-mission office for ratification, according ac-cording to the Commissioners, and while no action has yet been taken on the projects, it was expecW that some definite answer would I received within a very short tinn. The proposal of William M. Eyre and Wilford Day that the property along the lane north of the Har-rel Har-rel Dal ton farm in Parowan Valley, be condemned by the county, and that grade be thrown up to this road would be passable, was taken under advisement pending further Investigation. Mr. Eyre and Mr. Day also suggested various road improvements im-provements from the bottom of the land in front of the Day property to the Eyre farm, also In Parowan Valley. E. Ray Lyman, who had requested permission to hire one of the caterpillars cater-pillars owned by the county for the purpose of building a dam on his property, was Informed that the county would build the proposed dam at the rate of $5.00 per hour. |
