Show M.I.A. Honor Days And Theme Festivals Open Tuesday The week of April 29th to May 6 has been set aside as M IA. Theme Festivals and Honor Days, according accord-ing to the General Boards of the L.D.S. Mutual Improvement Associations. Associ-ations. The theme for this year is taken from the Bible and is as follows: "My son, keep thy Father's commandment, com-mandment, and Torsake not the law of thy Mother: "Bind them continually upon thine heart, and tie them about thy neck: "When thou goest, It shaU lead thee; when thou sleepest. it shall keep thee; and when thou awakest, St shall talk with thee." Proverbs' 6:20-22. The theme lends itself to many story, song, dramatization, written writ-ten tributes and has been the motivating thought of many of the M.I.A. discussions and activities deepening In the hearts of the members mem-bers an appreciation for their pav-ents pav-ents and for their glorious heritage. As the Theme Festivals and Honor Hon-or Days approach, all members of the Parowan Stake of the L. D. S. church are urged to participate with the following suggestions being be-ing outlined by the officers for the Theme Festival Week: SUNDAY, April 27 - Get the cooperation co-operation of the Bishop in urging all Mutal Improvement members to attend, in family units, the fast service on Sunday, May l. if the Bishop approves, announce it on Sunday, April 27. Urge young people peo-ple to bear their testimony and use the theme as a subject paying tribute to parents, to country and to Church. MONDAY, April 28 Tribute Day Use Monday and Monday evening as a "writing day" to pay tribute to parents, These may be In prose, poerty, or song. They should be mailed to parents absent. Even though parents have passed beyond, tributes may be written to their memory, or time given to the contemplation of their lives; recall many acts of love, of sacrifice and service mat tney nave rendered, and talk with members of the family and others about them. TUESDAY, April 29 Morning Prayer Service Make an effort to have the entire family present for morning prayer. Stress gratitude grati-tude for the family group, also for heritage in the Church and nation and for the inheritance of the past. Sing "Love at Home" or some other favorite of the family. It may be well to have individual members of the family offer prayer in turn. Read some scripture. M. I. A. Theme Festival Program Tuesday evening in each Ward. WEDNESDAY, April 30-Family Dinner Make this a "dress up" occasion and have the family participate par-ticipate in a real dinner party. If desired, the dinner might go beyond the immediate family and broaden itself into a family reunion. THURSDAY, May 1 "A Kind Act Day" Adopt an orphan for a day. The "mothering" and "fathering" "father-ing" for a few hours of a child that has been bereft of parents would bless not only the child but also those who extend this kindness. Or, go out and open your heart and your purse strings to the bringing of happiness into a home where there may be sorrow. FRIDAY, May 2 Temple Day Plan a day at one of the temples or send some money to have work done for a progenitor. Thus, In a small way pay the debt we owe the past and give homage sincerely to the heritage that Is yours. SUNDAY, May 4 Testimonies Attend Fast Meeting and bear testimony, paying tribute to parents, par-ents, country and Church. s . |
