Show Cedar Girl Elected State President of Home Economics Club Miss Carmen Croft, a student of the Utah State Agricultural College at Logan, and daughter of Mrs. and Mrs. George Croft of Cedar City, was named president of the Utah State Home Economics Clubs Association Asso-ciation at the fourth annual spring festival of the association held last Saturday in Salt Lake City. She succeeds Miss Deon Oleson of the Brigham Young University. Others elected included Miss Pauline Paul-ine Hyer of North Cache high school, Richmond, Utah, secretary; Miss lone Drake of Wilson, Weber high school student, high school representative, re-presentative, and Miss Carol Brock-bank Brock-bank of Dixon junior high school, Provo, Junior high school representative. represen-tative. Miss Gretel Shaw of Box Elder high school, Brigham City, was named to succeed Mrs. Glenn S. Potter of Lehi as club leader. More than 900 college, high school and Junior high school girls from all parts of Utah took part in the festival which opened Saturday morning with a general session in the assembly hall on Temple square at which time Tracy R. Welling, secretary to Governor Herbert B. Maw, was the principal speaker. Sectional meetings were held immediately im-mediately following the general session, with a luncheon and fash-Ion fash-Ion show at the Hotel Utah, concluding con-cluding the convention. Miss Francos E. Knott, head of the home economics econom-ics department of the Branch Agricultural Agri-cultural College, directed the fash-Ion fash-Ion show which included approximately approxi-mately 70 models from the various clubs throughout the state. Miss Winona Hunter, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles R. Hunter of Cedar Ce-dar City, acted as commentator, and three girls from the local school, Miss Glennls Simklns, Miss Lucy Hess and Miss Karol Haight, modeled mod-eled garments made by them in their clothing classes at the B. A. C. Twenty-five . members of the B. A. C. Home Economics club, with Miss Knott and Mrs. Grace Hawkes, attended the festival from Cedar City. . |
