Show Reduced Traveling Fares for Service Men Announced To lighten the financial burden of Army, Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard men when traveling on official leave, furlough or pass, the Union Pacific has Joined all other railroads to authorize coach fares on a basis of 14 cents per mile in each direction. Tins announcement was made today by W. S. Baslnger, General Passenger Traffic Manager of the railroad, who said the rate would become effective as soon as tariffs can be filed to and Including October Octo-ber 31. The service men must be traveling travel-ing In uniform and at their own expense to qualify for this rate, Mr. Basslnger said, who further added the rate would not be granted grant-ed except on presentation of a furlough fur-lough fare certificate. The return limit, he said, will be 30 days In addition ad-dition to date of sale, and minimum round trip fare Is $1. |
