Show CEDAR CITY 10 CELEBRATLFOURTH Live Committees Have Affairs in Charge, and Something Worth While is Promised. HON. WILL G, FARRELL FOR ORATOR OF THE DAY Afternoon Sports at Pair (irounds Entertainment for Old Folks Oood Hand Music and Big Time Tor All. Yes, Cedar City is to have a celebration for Independence Day, and the present indications are that it is going to be one worth while. The general committee com-mittee appointed by the City Council has named the various subordinate committees, and has a general outline arranged for the day's activities. There are still a number of details to work out, however, and the complete program cannot be published until un-til next week. Principal Roy K. Homer, who was delegated with the mission of obtaining an orator of the day, has just returned from Salt Lake City and reports that Mr. Will G. Farrell, president of the Rotary Club of that place, and one of the most energetic and vigorous characters of the metropolis, me-tropolis, as well H a fluent talker, talk-er, has consented to fill the engagement en-gagement here. Parade Dispensed With. Believing that unless a lot of energy en-ergy and money is expended in the preparation of floats, a parade is of no interest, the committee has decided to dispense with this somewhat common com-mon feature. The local band will be in shape to furnish inspiring music, and the city will be awakened by the customary salute of artillery. A rousing meeting will be held in the tabernacle, commencing at 10 a. m., a strong feature of which will be the address by lion. Will (J. Farrell of Salt Lake City. Amusements for the Old People. At miil-day a program and other amusements are being arranged for the old people, who will be in charge of a special committee. Afternoon sports and amusements, consisting of athletic sports, base ball, etc., will be conducted out at the fail-grounds, fail-grounds, ami will be unusually interesting, inter-esting, according to accounts received. A live committee will have charge of this feature of the celebration. There will be the customary grand ball in the evening. Invitation to Other Settlements. The Record is authorized by the general committee to. extend an nvita-tion nvita-tion torthe other settlements of tKe county to join us in our celebration of the birth of Independence, and to especially es-pecially urge that the people of I'aro-wan I'aro-wan reciprocate the visit paid to them a year ago by a large number of people peo-ple from this place.
