Show OGDEN. Sacred Concert at St. Joseph's Church Thanksgiving Eve. The most important event during the past'week in Ogden was the grand sacred sa-cred concert given on Thanksgiving evening in the beautiful new St. Joseph's Jo-seph's church. The concert was the best ever given by local talent. The following was the musical programme rendered: Sacred Fantasie "Providence" Theador M. Tobani Short's Orchestra. A full account of the successful affair will appear in next week's issue of the Intermountain Catholic. I That it was a success in every way. is gratifying to every one, but it is no surprise. All of Ogden's citizens, both Protestant and Catholic, are proud and happy to always assist Rev. Father Cushnahan in any undertaking. It can be truly said that he is the best loved and most popular citizen of Ogden. . The rest of the fine stained glas3 windows arrived last Monday and were placed in the magnificent church for the concert. , Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Fitzgerald entertained en-tertained at dinner on Friday of last week in honor of Governor-elect John Sparks of Nevada. On Friday afternoon of last week Miss Nellie 'Healy entertained in honor of Miss Emma Wright. Mrs. Thomas Fitzgerald, with her guests. Mrs. Sheedy, Mrs. King and Miss King, visited in Salt Lake last week. They were the guests of Mrs. Charlton and Mrs. Marks. H. N. Reno of Butte was in Ogden last Tuesday. . . Mrs. T. Kennedy is back from a visit with her sister in Oakland. Cal. Mrs. Thomas Fitzgerald's guests of the past two weeks, Mesdames Sheedy and King, and Miss Louise King, left Tast Saturday for their California homes. ct : Miss Ollie Farmer left for, California the past week, where she will spend the winter. Fred Wey of Salt Lake City' was visiting Ogden friends last week. The Ogden order of Machinists gave their first annual ball Thursday evening even-ing at Conley's hall. Mrs. Katherine Byrne, wife of Moses Byrne, died last Saturday of heart trouble at her home in. Uintah, aged 73 years; Mrs. Byrne was one of the earliest settlers, " coming across the plains, over fifty years ago. She has resided most of the tirrie at Uintah, although al-though for about ten,. years. her home . was at Piedmont, where a number of her children still reside. Her end came very suddenly, she being attacked with ia severe pain in the neighborhood of 1 the heart and expired almost imme-dately. imme-dately. ' - - ; An exhibition of the "work of local artists is to be given in Ogden Dec. 22, the tenth anniversary of the founding of the National Art association. The exhibition will be under the auspices of Miss L. A. Mint and the local branch of the association. |
