Show Congratulations to Wyoming Bishop. Throughout the intermountain states interest has centered in the arrival of the Right Rev. John J. Keane as bishop bish-op of the diocese of Cheyenne, to succeed suc-ceed -the late Bishop Lenahan. Many of the Denver priests are personally acquainted ac-quainted with the new bishop and all felt a keen pleasure in welcoming him to his field of future labor. Telegrams and letters of congratulation were sent from all parts of the city Sunday, and although all the priests of the city had been invited to attend the reception tendered Bishop Keane by the people 1 of Cheyenne and Wyoming in general, they were nearly all unable to attend. Rev. P. A.- Phillips, chancellor of the diocese, however, represented Colorado and was master of ceremonies at the high mass celebrated in honor of the arrival of the bishop. At one time there was much speculation specu-lation among the Denver priests as to the possible successor to Bishop Lenahan. Len-ahan. and Rev. Henry Robinson, vicar general, was a, likely candidate for the episcopal honors. The appointment -of Bishop Keane has proved a source of satisfaction to the clergy throughout the west. |
