Show Diocese of Denver. - OUR DENVER LETTER. Corner-stone of Neryv Orphanage Will Be JLaid '.tomorrow. (Special Correspondence.) For the third time in not so many years the announcement is made of the corner-stone laying of St. Vincent's orphan asylum. The event will take place on next Sunday afternoon at half-past 2 o'clock. Only a few years ago the corner-stone of the new addition addi-tion was laid with great ceremony and a reception was held. Now the Sisters care little for holding receptions and are only anxious to hasten the building build-ing of the home, which will shelter their 200 little orphans now crowded into the remaining buildings. It will be remembered that on March 15 last the handsome structure was burned to the ground and the occupants left practically prac-tically shelterless. It required little time to enclose the play houses and make of them temporary refuges for the unfortunate children.; -The good Sisters have struggled bravely on and noA'i their ambitions are about to be satisfied, and within. a few months the new home even more' commodious than the one of which fire deprived them will be ready for. occupancy. : Sunday will be a day of great rejoicing re-joicing for the people . of Denver Den-ver who have contributed so generously to the rebuilding of the home! and it is expected that a large attendance will mark the laying of the stone by the Right Rev Bishop Matz. The address of the day will be delivered deliv-ered by Rev. Father- O'Ryan, who will return from Chicago for the occasion. Mr. Dennis Sheedy, who has been one of the most generous benefactors of the noble institution, will also speak. AH the clergy of the city have been invited to take part in the exercises and many have signified their intention to attend. All the Catholic societies will be in attendant;, the uniformed ranks betng in full regalia. An invitation has been issued to Governor Orman. and it is very likely that he will be present. The completion of the orphanage is looked for by the end of May. |
